Neurodiversity Affirming Assessment for Adults
A Bit About Neurodivergence
When people talk about “neurodivergence,” they’re often referring to Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism (Austism Spectrum Disorder or ASD) though these are just two of the many ways brains can differ. Both neurological conditions can impact focus, communication, and how someone navigates relationships or environments. The patterns tend to be pervasive and lifelong, and can often be camouflaged or masked throughout a persons life. Over time, however, both symptoms and masking can lead to frustration, burnout, or a sense of disconnection. This is compounded when there isn’t language or support to make sense of what’s happening. With the right assessment and support, many adults come to understand their patterns in a new way, and from there, find self-compassion and build lives that feel satisfying and meaningful.
Assessment
If you’re wondering whether ADHD or Autism might be part of your experience, an assessment with a licensed mental health professional is a practical first step.
At VESSEL, we offer:
Screening Assessment (90 minutes): clarity without a formal diagnosis
Comprehensive Evaluation (180 minutes): includes diagnostic outcomes and a written report
Both use a semi-structured interview and observation to understand how you think, feel, and move through the world.
Why It Matters
Many adults start to wonder later in life whether they might be neurodivergent. Without a framework, long-standing patterns can be mistaken for personal failings rather than differences in wiring. A thorough assessment can help you make sense of your history, your challenges, and your strengths. From there, you can make more informed choices about support, whether that includes therapy, medication, or changes in how you structure your life.
